Perk of a Family Membership


Enjoy your work out while your children play, explore and learn with experienced, caring Y staff. During your child’s stay, Y staff will provide a fun experience in a safe environment.

Child Watch Hours
First come, first arrive basis

Monday-Friday [8:00-12:00 pm]
Monday-Thursday [4:30 pm -8:00 pm]
Saturday [8:00 am -10:30 am]

Late Pick-Up: An automatic charge of $1.00 per minute will be charged to the membership if the child is not picked up by area closure.

Hours are subject to change due to usage, staffing, seasons, etc.

Starting October 1st, 2023

Time Restriction: 120 minutes per dayAges: 6 weeks to 7 yearsArea Capacity: 16 children

Area Requirements

  • Children must be checked in and out of the Child Watch area.
  • Must have a family membership to utilize this area.
  • Nationwide membership is not eligible for this area.
  • Children utilizing this area must be on active membership.
  • Parents/guardians can not leave the facility while the child is checked into Child Watch

Due to health concerns and restrictions we will not provide or allow any snacks or meals during Child Watch hours at this time.

Please feed your child prior to coming to the Y. Please bring your child
a water bottle or cup. You may bring a bottle/toddler cup while they are in Child Watch. All cups and bottles must be clearly labeled with their name.
Please start your inflant/toddler’s visit to Child Watch with a clean/dry diaper. Families must provide their own diapers and wipes for their children. In the event that a child soils their clothing the staff will ask you to return to Child Watch immediately to change/clean up your child.The Kearney Family YMCA does not discriminate against children with special needs but requests additional information from you in order to provide a safe enjoyable experience for your child. The Y will make every reasonable effort to accomodate a child’s special needs but we cannot guarantee that is possible in all
circumstances.
Illness Policy
Children, and/or siblings who are sick or experiencing illness symptoms
should NOT be in Child Watch.

If a child begins to show illness symptoms, we will ask parent/guardian to come back to Child Watch for immediate pick up.
DisciplineInconsolable ChildMedications & Remedies
We will use redirection and time-outs for inappropriate behaviors. Behavior reports will be completed (if needed) and provided to parent/guardians at pick-up.If the Child Watch staff is unable to console after 10-15 minutes of continuous distress, the parent will be contacted and asked to come pick up their child.The Child Watch staff will not be responsible for administering medications and/or remedies. For infants, however, we can apply diaper ointment/cream/powder at the request of the parents.
