The Y is a cause for strengthening community. That’s why we are here working with youth and families every day to make sure that we have the resources and support needed to help them learn, grow and thrive. With a focus on developing the potential of kids, improving individual health and well-being, and giving back and supporting our neighbours, community support brings about meaningful change.
PLATTE VALLEY MEDICAL GROUP “The Physician Prescription Program has been very helpful to us as care providers because it gives us a tool that we can use for patients that are ready to start an exercise program…it gives us a resource that we wouldn’t typically have in a clinic setting.”—Amy Eifert
KEARNEY LITTLE LEAGUE PRESIDENT “There are so many areas of the community that the YMCA impacts. The Y looks for areas in the community where they can ‘partner’ and the Little League for example is a time when we needed a place to have our try-outs and the YMCA just opened their doors and says ‘How can we help?”, and “What can we do?” and they have just been incredibly accommodating over the years. “—Dave Chally
EXECUTIVE CO DIRECTOR THE ARC OF BUFFALO COUNTY, “Every Friday for the last three or four years we’ve been coming in free of charge with the folks with developmental disabilities. It’s been a great place to come and enrich our service learning program [as well] because our college students can come in and volunteer during this time. Then of course we’ve been helping with the adaptive Easter egg program the past few years. The Kearney Family YMCA opens up their indoor gymnasium, so we can have an indoor Easter egg hunt as well as have some crafts in the childcare center for [several families] with disabilities. [That is] a huge service that the [the Y] is offering those families.” –Kristin Larsen
KIRP “We’re really excited that the Kearney Family YMCA is one of the key partners with KIRP, which is the Kearney Inclusive Recreation Project. So what we’re seeing [with KIRP] are folks with disabilities signing up for swimming lessons and taking them along with their peers.”-- Kristin Larsen
SPECIAL OLYMPICS COACH, “The Y has been invaluable to Special Olympics. We wanted to start a volleyball program and we had no place at all to practice, so we approached the Y and they said, “Oh sure! Come and practice here!” Next thing we knew, the Y said “Wow, we would love to help in any way possible. What can we do to help you?” Without the Y, we wouldn’t be able to practice. “--Deb Schauer
TEAMMATES “Thank you so much for sharing the YMCA with Team Mates on Friday night. The kids love dodge ball and by the looks of things the mentors didn't mind playing either! Thanks to you all!”
THE FRIENDS PROGRAM “Thank you so much for your help with the Friends Program Event. Thanks for having it at the Y and for setting up the fun games. It was so helpful and appreciated! Thanks again!”
THE SAFE CENTER “Thank you for your donation to our agency. The adult and children winter hats will be so wonderful to have as it gets colder. Your generosity is much appreciated!” The Safe Center Staff, Volunteers, and Board of Directors
